Love Languages: When I Speak Mine Differently

Love language… it is such a common topic among couples. In fact, wives (mostly) compare their love language and share how they have redamancy (or unrequited) with their love language(s). Let me back track (in case you don’t know this love language that im talking about), this is popularized by Gary Chapman (who wrote the book of the same title)… According to him, there are Five Languages of Love… (these are word of affirmation, touch, gift, service, and time. You can click here to know more of these love languages.

What Is It Like?

Are you intrigued by the title? Surely, it appears sketchy. You can have different infinitive phrases to complete the question. But what I have in mind is “What is it like to be married to me?” That could be one of the toughest questions to answer. I’m sure you will agree it would be easier to give your answer if the question is directed to your spouse: “What is it like being married to you?” Then you can fire away and have a very elaborate essay. The highlights can vary, either you play up and put the spotlight to the positive side of what your spouse do for you or you can expose the negative side of your marriage including his failings… I hope you won’t do the latter because it won’t be ennobling for you to do not to mention you are making your spouse suffer from the ignominy[1] brought by washing your linen in public.

My Valentine 2014

My man is atypical...he mostly does things outside the mainstream of celebrating Vday...

Yes, he didn't give me roses coz he knew I'm not fond of 'em... Unless it's Gerbera (he said he went looking for it, but obviously you can hardly find that kind of flower here in GSC) or tulips.

Yet, he bought me a bar of chocolate ( he's feelin' blue not being able to find my fave Guylian.) and he handed it to me dramatically as he got home last night. And it was wrapped in a slovenly creased newspaper.

me: Bakit naka newspaper?
Him: para maiba.

Ok, I respect his being should I say originative or radically extraordinary? I can't pick the right adjective. To me? He is simply amazing! (Borrowing the trite remark from bride4rent movie)

Finally, we didn't have Vday dinner coz we had it last year. He is pretty much unpredictable. Though he was battling with the idea of taking me out, prolly for a joyride but I abnegate from the pleasure of it all because my hubby needs rest. He's been out early and been working his a** off. He has exponentially been putting his love into action for the past two days anyway.   So more than meeting my wants, it's time for me to translate my love for him by treating him like a king, feeding him dinner, and be his personal masseuse til he zonked out.

13th on 12th

I just wanna have a catchy title though it really has something to do with what I’m gonna say… It’s our 13th wedding anniversary today, Sept. 12. According to wedding traditions, 13th wedding anniversary is called Lace at the same time Chrysanthemum…but I don’t care much about traditional wedding names or gifts or whatsoever purpose those terms may be. I am not after of how many years have gone by in our marriage… My quest is not with the time but with the daily journey I have with my husband… the growth that we have as a couple and as individual.

It is my goal to be the kind of wife that God has designed and called me to be, for my John…As I declare that, at the back of my head I am also saying so HELP me God! That is a God-given role that needs the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit to walk a godly life as a wife and mom to our three children.

I am sharing the greetings that my “sweetie” posted in my FB account…

I had no idea last night why he let me go to bed ahead of him,  that was part of his pleasant surprise. I was certainly titillated when I read it this morning. Who wouldn’t be? (Oh by the way, he called and asked If I did read his message)

Ooops! Here is a closer look.

There! That message says it all, right?

Here is my response to his message…

Of course, that isn’t readable so here is a clear one…

Timing

A few weeks back, I heard a good news about my friend who used to be in my DGroup. I was ecstatic to hear that she’s already engaged to a church mate in our home church… her FB account was full of well-wishes… and she posted the 2 Fast 2 Furious album displaying the precious moment of the engagement party… I could not help but commented in that particular album…I said “When it is from God... nothing is too soon, and nothing is too late...God has a perfect time.” I do believe that!

I am always thrilled for my friends who are single and are patiently waiting for God to fulfill His plans in their lives… I can only reckon how hard it might be for them to resist the temptation of plowing ahead with God’s plan…especially if age is advancing every year… but given the opportunity to be single again… I think I will wait upon God…and by faith I know His ways are faultless… and I know His plans for me are perfect! God knows what is best for me.

I always trust the Word of God… This verse from the bible is God’s promise --“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. “ ~ Jeremiah 29: 11. Anyone can hold on to that promise… It is the promise that I keep dearly in my heart especially when circumstances seem not right…and when things do not make sense to me… You too can trust that God’s promise is a “done deal so to speak.

Christmas

Christmas is a season that comes at the end of the year. We all grow up wrapped with our very own Christmas culture. Attuned with this ethos, everyone motions to the usual celebration of Christmas every year- gift giving, noche buenas, caroling, parties and reunions.

But as we get into the mood of festivity, we also remember the quintessence of Christmas. That Love is the driving force why we celebrate Christmas. We heard this over and over before that Jesus Christ came to earth to display the unconditional love of the Father. We simply could not remove the basic truth of this season. This is the kind of love that moves us to love and share to others.

Without this love, we could not connect to other people with genuinely love but rather our relationship is swathed with personal motives like "spongers". But since Jesus Christ came and told us to love one another… that relationship is important than the material things this world can offer.

Christmas reminds us that family and friends are the real treasures.
