Like A Duck

My husband and I recently watched BATMAN Begins. It’s a fine film compared to the previous Batman movies. But that is not what this whole article is all about… I just want to borrow the lines of Bruce Wayne when he was asked by Rachel “Who are you?” as his identity was concealed by his mask…he said “It is not who I say that I am…but it is what I do that defines me as a person.” (not quoted in toto)

I could somehow look at it in a spiritual sense. What we do define who our God is. Like Father like Son is an aphorism already but we can not deny that who we are reflects our parents.

Take a look at this example, if an animal said to be a duck, that animal must act like a duck, walks like a duck, talks like a duck otherwise if it growls, it is not what it claims to be. We people, if we claim to be Christian. We must live a life in a manner worthy of our calling, as Paul said in Ephesians 4:1. Apostle John also mentioned in 1 John 3:9 “ No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.”

We can use a lot of Scriptures that would clearly define the characters of those who claim to be children of God but my point here is to challenge ourselves… are we really doing things that would glorify our Father in heaven? In everything that we do, are we becoming good witnesses to others? At the end of the day, are we giving a correct estimate of who Jesus is in our lives?


It is not what we say that gives an impression to others but it is what we do that leaves an imprint in the people’s head. After all, it is not our reputation that is at stake but God’s.
