This piece of writing is not about the movie. This discourse deliberates on the tongue. Yes, that small muscle in our mouth that enables us to talk or rather communicates effectively.
Small as it is but the tongue has its power to kill or destroy someone’s life. It is as lethal as an ammunition could be. Biblically speaking, the book of psalms, proverbs, letters of James, Peter and John tell us to guard our tongue. It is literally noxious as it can be.
Ironically, we praise our God with our tongue but…with our tongue we prattle people’s lives behind their back. We scandalize mundane issue. We web malice into people’s behavior. That’s truly an abuse, right?
Sad to note but most of us if not all are guilty of that. Christians for that matter are not exempted. But what excuse can you say? That we are humans? Bound to commit mistakes? True, but haven’t you been redeemed from your sinfulness? Have you forgotten that you were bought with a price? And the payment is the blood of Jesus… He died in our behalf. He was nailed for our single sin. His body received the pain of the whip that was supposed to be flogged in our own body. How can we continue on sinning and let someone make up for the consequences?
Gossip and rumors have become the way of life… but we have failed to consider the seriousness of it. The result is more than nasty… Our tongue more than you know it has become a lethal weapon.
