I have been praying early this year for this specific job because I wanna teach again. I used to be in the academe, teaching in the tertiary level for more than 5 years, a year in high school before that… Along with that prayer, I submitted my application letter last April… interviewed by the VP for Academics… then got hired June 11.
Sometimes… when we desire of things, we pray about it… and do nothing but wait on God’s answer. When the waiting takes long… we tend to deliver our monologue to God… We express our frustration and somehow tend to blame Him for lacking the compassion to grant our request…
The statement above is in the context of asking God for favor and doing your part… The only reference I can cite from the Bible, is when Nehemiah heard the ruins of the walls of Jerusalem. It says…
When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of Heaven. (Nehemiah 1:4)
"O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man." (Nehemiah 1:10-11a)
Nehemiah prayed to God, asked for forgiveness and interceded for the people of God who sinned against Him… Nehemiah also asked God for favor, that the king whom Nehemiah served as a cupbearer would grant him his desire to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem… After Nehemiah prayed and fasted … he went to the king and asked the king to grant his wish to go home in Judah to rebuild the wall…
The answer? It was Yes. God granted Nehemiah his desire…
In the same manner…whenever you desire for something, have faith and boldly pray to God… make the necessary move and watch before your eyes the favor that God has set before you… In my case, I would not know that God has answered me Yes if I did not submit my application… I would be waiting forever, and for sure would not be hired until today.
