Rough Times

1 Pt 4:12-13 Rm 8:38-39 Hab 3:18 Phil 4:12-13 Phil 4:4 Psalms 30:11 Mat 5:12

It has been six months since we got here in Gensan. We left Bukidnon in search for greener pasture. It was and is a noble desire of John to provide well for us and get Jason’s heart done. (I had mentioned my son’s condition several times in my blog)

However, as we tried to settle our family here in this Arabian-climate place (in contrast to Malaybalay’s super fresh and cool weather), the Gensan dream collapsed. The green land promised turns into desert place, figuratively speaking.

In worldly context, this has been the roughest time of our lives. In human point-of-view, things we gave up in Malaybalay were not worth the transfer. But instead of making our circumstances the stumbling block of our faith, by God’s grace still, it became our stepping stone to get closer to God.

My devo today from Lucado’s Experiencing the Heart of Jesus has not only comforted me but inspired me to never loosen my grip in the Lord. Max Lucado gave a testimony of His friend who was suffering a lot in life, she said “… I hope I can be an example that God is wanting us to trust in the good times and the bad… for if we don’t trust [God] when times are rough, we don’t trust [Him] at all circumstance…”

Powerful statement. Powerful Faith.

Nothing is certain in this life. Health falters, business may collapse, career be terminated, relationship may get shaky at times. But when you got faith anchored in the Lord, the journey may get rough at times, it may be hampered by storms, yet knowing that everything is in God’s hands, we can choose to be joyful and excited for the twists and turns of events in our lives.

Keep the Faith!
