Worship

“You search much deeper within
Has the way things appear
You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
When it’s all about
All about you Jesus…”

Worship! This word may mean a lot of things to people. It is synonymous to adoration, veneration, honor, praying, homage, devotion and dedication.

Our Pastor said that worship is the right response to who God is and what he has done. And I agree to that statement. Worshipping God is not an activity. But it is an act of communication to the Lord whom you have a personal and intimate relationship. In short, worship is a relationship itself with our Lord.

I’m currently reading “Created To Be God’s Friend” by Henry T. Blackaby. To understand how we must worship our God, allow me to quote what he said about worship. “ Worship is a deliberate, steady, focused time with God. Worship anticipates not only an encounter with God, but also a clear next word from God. Worship is totally God-centered! God-focused. Out of worship comes a clearer and more focused relationship of faith and obedience. Worship is God’s way of developing character and directing the life into the center of his will.”

Lastly, true worships costs us something. David when he wanted to worship God in 2 Samuel 24 verse 24 said he would not sacrifice to the Lord the burnt offerings that cost him nothing. At this present time, we do not practice sacrificing any unblemished animals. Jesus has been the ultimate sacrifice although we still worship the Lord to this very day. To worship Him may cost our time, wants, career or relationship that we gave up so we can be with God.
